Two years ago, an IMF official at a press conference in Yaounde said: “Cameroon spends more than it earns. Incurring huge debts is inevitable in such a situation." The Cameroon's first daughter lives alone in a $26,000 (about 15 million FCFA) a month mansion in California, attends University of California, Los Angeles which charges a whopping $60,000 (about 34.6 million FCFA) in tuition (that if she didn't get a scholarship) and drives a $100,000 (about 57.7 million FCFA) white G class Mercedes Benz.

A baby has drowned in a bucket in the Chantal Biya Foundation, a state-run hospital in the capital city of Yaounde, Cameroon, according to Mowah Sixtus Mbom, editor-in-chief of the Guardian Post Newspaper.
Mbom, a Cameroonian journalist, reports that the baby is one of the conjoined twins who were recently separated in Tunis, Tunisia.
"The baby drowned in a hospital room. This is unimaginable," writes the senior reporter.
All attempts to verify the story from hospital officials have been futile.
Chantal Biya Foundation was named after the wife of Cameroon's president, Paul Biya Bartholomew Bi Mvondo.
In recent months, several state hospitals in Cameroon have come under severe criticism for poor management and government neglect. Medical doctors abandoned a pregnant woman to die with her set of twins in front of a state-run hospital in Douala, Cameroon.

This is a picture from Mr Biya's recent visit to Nigeria. Nigeria's President, Mr Buhari shows Paul Biya the various Presidents Nigerians have had since independence in 1960. Mr Biya is laughing out his lungs. He could be saying to himself how foolish Cameroonians are.

No end to African strongman era
Biya has ruled Cameroon since November 1982, he is the oldest sub-Saharan African president after Robert Mugabe. The Zimbabwe leader, who turned 92 in February, has headed that country since late 1987.
The end of the African strongman era was predicted back in 2014, when mass protests in Burkina Faso ousted President Blaise Compaore after 27 years in power.
Biya became president on November 6, 1982 after serving seven years as prime minister. In 2008, revised the constitution to remove presidential term limits.

Reports from Jeune Afrique Newspaper indicates that there is an upcoming International Summit on May 14 th in Abuja-Nigeria with the main theme being discussions on the war against Boko Haram. Among the heads of state expected is the President of the Republic Paul Biya.
Reports from some Cameroonian media outlets are already hinting that Mr Biya will attend the conference although the cabinet of the presidency has not officially announced his participation.
All four heads of states of countries of the Commission of the Lake Chad Basin are to attend this crucial summit .At the meeting, the African leaders are expected to discuss the security challenges affecting the four countries that share boundaries with each other.
It should be noted that in June of 205, president Buhari organized a similar summit which was
attended by three of the four African Heads of State in the Lake Chad Basin Commission.Presidents of Chad, Idriss Deby, Niger, Mahamadou_Issoufou and Republic of Benin, Boni Yayai, were all present at the summit, while Cameroon’s president Mr Biya was instead represented by his then Minister of Defence, Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo'o.
Cameroonian media sources are hinting that the Head of State who is not a fan of Nigeria is finding it hard this time around to send a representative as the Nigerian Government indicated to him Mr Biya to respond personally to the invitation of Nigerian President Buhari, who visited Cameroon in July 2015.
