Douala: Special Criminal Court opens case against Rector Bruno Bekolo Ebe, Deans and Managers

The Special Criminal Court has opened a criminal investigation on Bruno Bekolo Ebe over his management of the University of Douala, Cameroon Concord has learnt from reliable government sources. We also gathered that  some current and former officials of the management team of the institution have already responded to the summons by the court. On  April 4, 2016 some managers and dean of studies at the time Bruno Bekolo Ebe headed the establishment were at the Special Criminal Court premise in Yaounde.

Some of Bekolo’s men did not appear during the April 4th hearing but were however represented by lawyers, who had the burden of justifying their absences. The Higher State Control (CONSUPE) conducted an audit including an inspection mission from 2007 to 2010 at the University of Douala when Bruno Bekolo was in command. It has emerged that there were 27 counts of mismanagement and Bruno Bekolo Ebe was indebted to the institution of the sum of 2.4 billion CFA Francs.
