The Bambili Accident: Updates from Cameroon Concord's North West Regional Correspondent

The ghastly motor accident that occurred at Bambili three corners on May 16th 2016 claimed  seven persons lives. When our  Cameroon Concord's  correspondent for Bamenda arrived the scene of the accident later that day he saw the spot covered with mammoth crowds of anxious and curious people stretching their necks left and right to see those who have either been killed or wounded in the accident. The Governor of the North West Region Lele L’Afrique Adolphe Deben Tchoffo and the forces of law and order comprising of ESIR police Gendarmerie and public security as well as the local administration of Tubah sub division, the forces of law and order were there as well besides the mayor of Tubah council Mr. Tanjong Martin Meshongong. This reporter learned from one taxi driver who did not want to be identified that seven persons were feared dead and were evacuated to the mortuary but other conflicting reports told the guardian post that only three persons died and were taken to hospital.

According to sources gathered on the spot a truck with registration numbers CE52IHX which was transporting gravel for the construction of a road in the Bamenda University campus lost it brakes when descending from mile 10, Bambili. It crushed two motor cycles on its way to Bambili three corners as well as a vehicle with registration number NW 704AQ  and killed its owner who parked the vehicle and was said to have been having a conversation with another person.

According to the Guardian post’s findings the driver of the truck and motor boy are said to have survived the accident. Many thanks go to a Brasseries Du Cameroon truck that acted as a wedge to the truck
that hit it and somersaulted and fell on the entrance leading to Cameroon college of Arts, science and Technology Bambili. It is at this entrance that the vehicle with registration numbers NW 704 AQ was completely damaged and the owner standing beside it was cut into two halves. This reporter also learned that a girl who lost one of her eyes and a motor cycle rider were taken to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile the Army Rescue Van was on the scene of the accident and reportedly rushed some victims of the accident to the hospital but at the scene of accident it was difficult to identify any of the dead persons. But many people hold that about four persons died in the accident
