Cameroon Police Sex Scandal: 3 Officers Detained, New Regional Chief Appointed
31 July 2025
Police sex-tape scandal: three officers now held in custody, new acting chief named in Cameroon’s Centre
Division Commissioner Josué Ossomo, Officer Christelle Eboa and a second, still-unnamed female commissioner have been moved from suspension to police custody at the Groupement spécial d’opérations (GSO) in Yaoundé.

Their detention follows the release of office sex videos that shook the regional security corps earlier this week.
Fresh developments
-
Custody at the GSO – The specialised unit is often used for sensitive cases involving police personnel. Investigators say the secure setting allows them to protect digital evidence and limit outside contact while interviews continue.
-
Administrative probe by “police des polices” – The internal-affairs directorate has opened a parallel inquiry to decide on disciplinary measures. Sources indicate that revocation from the police ranks is already being drafted for Commissioner Ossomo and could extend to the two policewomen if wrongdoing is confirmed.
-
New interim leadership – Division Commissioner Emmanuel Mbiti Alinda has been appointed acting Regional Delegate for National Security in the Centre, replacing Ossomo pending the outcome of both the criminal and administrative processes.
Christelle Eboa’s public statement
Just hours before her detention, Officer Eboa posted a message on her personal Facebook page. In it she:
-
Denied rumours that she is a participant in any same-sex relationship, calling such claims “a full masquerade.”
-
Accused an unnamed superior of long-standing harassment, alleging he threatened to “make life hard” after she repeatedly rejected his advances out of respect for her husband and religious beliefs.
-
Called for accountability and said she hopes the officer in question “will answer for his acts.”
Possible charges and penalties
Investigators are examining:
-
Abuse of authority over junior staff.
-
Misuse of service premises for sexual activity.
-
Unlawful recording and distribution of explicit images.
Under Cameroon’s Penal Code and 2010 Cyber-crime Law, proven offences could bring dismissal, demotion and prison terms of up to five years.
Regional and cross-border context
Analysts draw parallels with Equatorial Guinea’s 2024 “Baltasar affair,” where hundreds of office sex tapes led to the arrest of a senior official and new surveillance rules in government buildings. Observers say Cameroon’s police may adopt similar safeguards—such as stricter access logs, mandatory CCTV in sensitive zones and clearer policies on workplace relationships—to restore credibility in the Centre Region.
The disciplinary board is expected to convene within two weeks; any criminal indictments from the Yaoundé military tribunal could follow shortly after. Cameroon Concord will publish verified updates as the case evolves.
