Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

The spirit of community service and civic responsibility was on full display in Mbengwi as a group of youths took it upon themselves to clean up the Mbon motor park.

Drawn from various youth groups within the community, including Ku youths, Njembeng youths, Kobenyang youths, the Bedtime Melodies Fan Club, and the Bike Riders Union, these young boys and girls gathered early on Monday morning, February 19, 2022, to sweep and gather every bit of dirt at the park. With determination and teamwork, they diligently worked to ensure that the area was left spotless.

Their efforts were not in vain, as they were joined by a few elderly persons who commended their initiative. At the conclusion of the clean-up exercise, the youths were reminded of the importance of volunteering to address issues within their community. They were encouraged to take ownership of their environment and to refrain from littering, emphasizing that small actions can lead to significant positive impacts on humanity as a whole.

The event was organized by two youth leaders in Mbengwi, both of whom had recently undergone training as peaceweavers by the anti-hatespeech organization known as Defyhatenow_WCA through Civic Watch Cameroon. The training, which focused on mobilizing youth leaders to counter hate speech and conflict in crisis zones, equipped the participants with valuable skills and knowledge. They were tasked with returning to their communities to share what they had learned, and the clean-up exercise at the Mbon motor park is a testament to their dedication to promoting peace and unity.

This grassroots initiative serves as a shining example of the power of community engagement and collective action. By coming together to address a common challenge, these youths have demonstrated their commitment to making a positive difference in their surroundings. As they continue to build on this momentum, they are sure to inspire others to join them in working towards a cleaner, more vibrant Mbengwi.
