Cameroon on high alert as 3,144 Rounds of Ammunition Found on Bus en route to Yaounde
Ngaoundéré, Cameroon – The recent seizure of 3,144 rounds of ammunition in a passenger bus has ignited intense speculation regarding the potential planning of an overthrow of the Biya regime.

This incident, which occurred on the night of October 27 to 28, 2024, has raised pressing questions about security lapses in the country as military and security forces remain on high alert.
During a routine check at the Tchabal control post, customs officials involved in the HALCOMI operation apprehended a 70-seat bus traveling from Maroua to Yaoundé. Among the luggage, a significant cache of munitions was discovered, including 3,000 cartridges for M21 rifles, 119 rounds for AK47s, and 25 rounds for handguns.
The owner of the bags, identified as a military personnel, attempted to flee upon discovery but was swiftly detained. He has since been transferred to the Yaoundé Military Security (SEMIL) for further investigation, where he is currently in custody.
Growing Security Concerns
The nature of this seizure is particularly alarming, as it suggests a potential organized effort to destabilize the current government. Analysts are questioning how an individual could traverse nearly 500 kilometers with such a substantial quantity of ammunition without interception.
Security forces have been increasingly vigilant over the past few months, reflecting growing tensions in the region. This incident not only raises eyebrows about potential collusion within the military ranks but also highlights the effectiveness of current security measures in preventing arms trafficking.
What’s at Stake?
The discovery has prompted various theories regarding its implications for national security. As the country grapples with ongoing political unrest and allegations of corruption within the military, the incident has further fueled speculation about possible coup attempts or insurrections aimed at the long-standing Biya administration.
The security military is expected to conduct a thorough investigation to uncover the full extent of this incident and determine whether it is an isolated case or part of a broader conspiracy.
Conclusion
As Cameroon faces growing unrest and questions about the legitimacy of its government, the seizure of such a significant arsenal of ammunition raises serious concerns about the potential for violent upheaval. The coming days will be crucial as the investigation unfolds, and as Cameroonians seek answers regarding the stability of their nation and the security of its governance. With the situation developing rapidly, it remains to be seen what revelations will emerge and how they will impact the ongoing political landscape.
