Contimi Kenfack Mouafo, a Cameroonian student pursuing studies in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Energy Technology at RWTH Aachen University,

has been recognized as the "Student of the Year" by the German National Association for Student Affairs (DSW) and the German Association of University Professors and Lecturers (DHV).

This prestigious accolade acknowledges Contimi's exceptional voluntary commitment through his association "3 E's 4 Africa".

Established in 2020 by Contimi Kenfack Mouafo himself, "3 E's 4 Africa" embodies its mission of Education, Empowerment, and Ecofriendliness. The association, primarily comprising international students and alumni, endeavors to support African students and researchers in developing innovative and sustainable solutions for their continent. Through education and research projects focusing on crucial topics like energy transition, climate change mitigation, and adaptation, "3 E's 4 Africa" aims to make a significant contribution to addressing global challenges.

One of the distinctive features of "3 E's 4 Africa" is its promotion and facilitation of autonomously driven projects by students and researchers in Africa. The association serves as a platform for presenting ideas, establishes mentorship networks with professors and experts, and secures funding for projects. Since its inception, "3 E's 4 Africa" has invested over 100,000 euros in supporting innovative initiatives and has impacted over 200 individuals in countries such as Cameroon, Ghana, Namibia, and others.

In recognition of his outstanding dedication beyond academic pursuits, Contimi Kenfack Mouafo was selected as the recipient of the "Student of the Year" award. DSW President Professor Dr. Beate Schücking and DHV President Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. Lambert T. Koch commended Contimi's commitment to solidarity and partnership, highlighting its positive influence on African students and the integration of international students into German university life.

The award, presented at the "Gala of German Science" in Berlin on March 25, 2024, includes a prize of 5,000 euros provided by the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft. Contimi Kenfack Mouafo's impactful work has not only earned him recognition within academic circles but has also inspired a broader conversation about challenging stereotypes about Africa.

In an interview with German media outlet WDR, Contimi emphasized the importance of portraying Africa in a positive light and showcasing its potential for growth and development. He stressed the need for global recognition of Africa's achievements, stating that the continent's success would benefit the entire world.

Arriving in Germany at the age of 19, Contimi Kenfack Mouafo has exemplified leadership and commitment to community development. His initiatives, such as promoting sustainable agriculture in Namibia and enhancing biogas installations in Ghana, underscore the transformative impact young leaders can have on their communities and beyond.
