The collision involved a Dash 8 aircraft owned by Safari Link, which was en route to Diani with 44 passengers and crew on board. Alongside this commercial flight was a Cessna plane engaged in a training session, carrying two individuals. Tragically, the Cessna crashed within the confines of the park, while the Dash 8 was able to safely return and land at Wilson Airport. Both aircraft had departed from Wilson Airport prior to the incident, according to official reports.

Confirmation of the fatalities came from authorities, who revealed the grim toll of the accident. Despite the heartbreaking loss of life, Safarilink Aviation, the owner of the Dash 8 aircraft, provided assurance that none of their passengers sustained injuries.

In a statement released following the incident, Safarilink Aviation disclosed the sequence of events, noting a loud noise shortly after takeoff, prompting the crew to make the swift decision to return to Nairobi-Wilson Airport for inspection. Thankfully, the aircraft was able to touch down safely, averting further tragedy.

The operator further reiterated their commitment to safety, affirming that relevant agencies have been alerted and are actively collaborating with Safarilink Aviation to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
