Tragic Killing in Düsseldorf: Cameroonian Alain Karol Fatally Shot in Suspected Money Deal
Düsseldorf, Germany – The Cameroonian diaspora is in mourning following the tragic shooting death of Alain Karol, also known by the nickname Versacé, in the late hours of March 12, 2025, in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Mysterious Assassination
According to reports from the Düsseldorf police, an unknown gunman opened fire multiple times on the 49-year-old Cameroonian inside a ride-hailing vehicle at approximately 11:20 PM. The assailants approached the stopped vehicle at a red traffic light, shot Karol several times, and fled on foot in an unknown direction.
Despite the rapid intervention of emergency services, Alain Karol succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Possible Motive: A Dispute Over Money?
Preliminary investigations suggest that a dispute over money may have occurred between Karol and the suspects earlier at a hotel on Graf-Adolf-Straße. The victim might have attempted to flee the altercation by entering the vehicle, but the attackers pursued and executed him moments later.
The murder investigation is ongoing, and German authorities have urged witnesses to come forward. However, as of now, the perpetrators remain unidentified and at large.
A Disturbing Pattern: Cameroonians Targeted in Germany
This latest tragedy adds to the growing list of Cameroonians who have met violent ends in Germany. On July 11, 2024, William Chejou, another Cameroonian, was stabbed to death in Berlin by a Turkish national over a minor parking dispute.
Controversial Justice System?
The leniency of the German justice system in cases involving Black African victims has become a major concern. Chejou’s killer received only a six-year suspended sentence, effectively allowing him to walk free unless he commits another offense. The Cameroonian community reacted with outrage, viewing it as a miscarriage of justice and possible racial bias.
Now, Alain Karol’s murder has once again sparked fears that justice might not be fully served.
Calls for Greater Protection and Diplomatic Action
With yet another unsolved murder of a Cameroonian in Germany, many in the diaspora are demanding justice and increased protection. There are growing calls for:
Fair judicial treatment for African victims in Germany
Increased safety measures for Cameroonian migrants and asylum seekers
Stronger intervention from Cameroonian diplomatic representatives to ensure that perpetrators are held accountable
For now, Alain Karol’s murder remains unsolved, and his loved ones await justice. The Cameroonian diaspora continues to question whether they can truly feel safe in Germany, as yet another tragic chapter unfolds.
