Germany plays double standards with Russia's state sponsored TV RT (Russia Today)
The Deutsche Welle (in English "German Waves") is a government-sponsored broadcasting organization like the BBC is to Britain, the VOA to America and France24 to France.
In all ideological disputes with Russia and China, I have never heard any of these organs ask their audience to change positions and also attempt to view issues from the perspectives of Russia and China. They are never critical of western positions even when they are openly erroneous and destructive as they were in Iraq, Libya or Syria. They even make it happen by beating the thunderous drums of woes and misery and never regretting it when it turns sour. In highlighting the moral high grounds of the "democratic" West, the evil and inferior interlopers are always Russia and China.
RT (Russia Today) is also a government-sponsored broadcasting organization like all the four mentioned above. The focal point of its broadcasts is always the Russian view of global affairs. The West calls this propaganda. For several years, the Deutsche Welle has been running a Russian language service in Russia. RT launched a German language service to broadcast in Germany only in December 2019.
YouTube promptly deleted it from its platform. The German regulatory authority delegitimized it and banned it almost immediately. Now that the Russians have retaliated by revoking the broadcasting license of the Deutsche Welle in Russia, the German authority is beginning to talk from both sides of its mouth.
First they claim that RT.de had no license to operate. Then they get judgmental and say they do not encourage propaganda broadcasts. The German Secretary of State for Culture, Claudia Roth, was unmistakable in her early morning Radio interview.
Where is the world heading with this crass imbalance and injustice? Where will the West end with this hypocrisy and shameless manipulation of public innocence? We'll keep our fingers crossed.
