D.R.C: Kabila systematically delays Polls until December 2018

The president of D. R Congo’s Electoral Commission says the presidential election, initially planned to hold next month, may be delayed until December 2018.

President Joseph Kabila denies being behind the delays, but says it maybe due to logistical and budgetary constraints in the country.

The electoral commission president, Corneille Nanga told delegates at a multi-party talks that the commission would finish updating the voter registry on July the 31st, 2017.

He said the commission will require an additional 504 days to organize the vote.
