Her family announced her death via her official Facebook page: "Mami Ton has left us. Flowers for you, tears for us, mama. You fought hard, your children are proud of you. Thank you to all her fans."
This sad news marks the end of a long battle against a hemorrhagic stroke, which she suffered on August 10, 2024, during a ceremony. Since then, the actress had been hospitalized at the General Hospital in Douala, where she remained unconscious until her last breath.
National and International Support
Mami Ton's struggle did not go unnoticed by the Cameroonian people, who expressed their support through various messages of solidarity. The African cultural community, touched by this tragedy, also rallied to encourage the actress in her fight for life.
The involvement of the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, highlights the artist's importance to the nation. According to a statement from Professor Henry Namme Luma, director general of the General Hospital in Douala, the Head of State had ordered that all medical expenses for Mami Ton be covered by the government. Despite these efforts, fate had the final say, and Mami Ton has left us.
A Farewell in the Rain
As Douala was drenched in torrential rain that night, her daughter, Madage Mirette Mounira, interpreted the rain as a celestial tribute to her mother, symbolically accompanying her to the beyond. The family, surrounded by the affection of all who admired the actress, must now face the absence of the one who made them laugh and think over the years.
