A young musician lost her life on Friday in the Ngousso neighbourhoods in Yaoundé in a road accident. Merveille Tsand'Mbe of the Macase band was knocked by a taxi.
Eyewitnesses say she was on a motorbike returning from a performance. Upon seeing an imminent danger, she jumped off the vehicle just to clash with a taxi from behind.
Merveille was one of three girls incorporated into the band five years ago in order to rekindle its fire. They were named"The three virgins" because of the beauty of their voices.
The death of Merveille leaves the group with just one of the trio, Sandrine Nnanga. Leonie Langa had previously gone solo.
The Macase band is a group of Cameroonian musicians founded in 1996. Led by Serge Maboma, the group released its first album"Etam" in 1998.

Comedian Charlie Murphy, a performer on “Chappelle’s Show” and Eddie Murphy’s older brother, has died at the age of 57.
Murphy died on Wednesday in New York of leukemia, according to his representative, Domenick Nati (via Variety).
The elder Murphy – sometimes credited as Charles Murphy – was a comedy stand-up and performer in his own right, but was perhaps best-known for his appearances on “Chappelle’s Show” on Comedy Central.
He made his big screen debut in 1989’s “Harlem Nights”, directed by his younger brother Eddie, but went on to appear in other films, such as Spike Lee’s “Mo’ Better Blues” and “Jungle Fever”, and also co-wrote some of his brother’s movies, such as “Norbit” and “Vampire in Brooklyn” (via Rolling Stone).

Fai Bawe Henry, a 71 year retired civil servant who seemingly partied hard in his youthful days, yesterday 3 April joint the rest of the world in commemorating world party day; a day that party diehards believe that peace is not just the absence of war; that the opposite of war is party.
According to Fai, this day which plays a very vital role in fostering world peace and stability has never been observed in Cameroon, reasons why he has decided to be the first to commemorate.
"World party day is a day human beings are called to celebrate events they are happy about including the sole fact that they are alive" says Fai. When you celebrate, you feel good and that prevents conflicts and fosters love and Harmony among humans. I want to institute this day in Cameroon as my own contribution to peace building" he adds.
40 year old Isaac Nkelle economics teacher at St Michaels College Douala, says World Party day is out of place in Cameroon considering recent happenings.
"What are we really celebrating when the country is going through political tumor? World Party days should be observed in peaceful countries and not Cameroon. Instead of partying, Cameroonians have more important and serious things to do. says the grumbling teacher.
Many Cameroonians seem to share in the same view point as Mr Isaac given the country's situation; they seem to challenge the idea that world party day can bring to solve the Anglophone problem. Despite all this Mr. Fai remains determined. He says he will not stop until he succeeds in inculcating partying in the circle of decision makers in Cameroon.

If you’re a single young African woman, there’s one question that you’ve come to dread. It comes up at family functions, social events and random interactions, over and over again. “When are you getting married?” Some women give in to the pressure from society and this sometime sends up being an unhappy union.
Cameroonian singer Charlotte Dipandais clearly not one to let society pressure her into marriage.
In an interview with 'The Voice Afrique Francophone', talking about love and marriage the singer who is in her 30s revealed that..."All the married people I know are unhappy.
Just to tell you that to me, marriage as you define it isnot an objective in life. It is not an objective nor something that disturbs my sleep at night. I evenfeel that I am on the right part because at times when it is done, you realize that they are not into it like before, or they do not struggle in the same way "."I love the idea of knowing that my man is afraid to lose me, that he does not considers me as a property.
Moreover, I think that it is something that will come when I will find the person who shares the same values of marriage like me.
I don't have the societal pressure that wants a woman to get married obligatorily, because we only get married when we are ready, and not because the society is imposing it on us"."I live my life, and I think I am in the phase of the vision on couple life today. I am very easy going by the quality of relationship I share with my partner. If it happens one day that I am no longer there, at that time, we shall see". She confided.
