Anglophone Crisis: Incacerated Rev. Kisob goes on Hunger Strike for Justice and Freedom
Renowned Reverend Bertin Kisob, incarcerated for six years due to his involvement in the Anglophone crisis, is set to commence an open-ended hunger strike from January 3, 2024. The man of God insists on his release from the Main Prison of Kondengui before January 1, 2024, to resume leadership of his political party, which poses a credible threat.
The Cameroon Party for Social Justice (CPSJ) asserts that should its National President, Bertin Kisob, meet his demise during the hunger strike at the Main Prison of Yaoundé starting on January 3, 2024, they will fully endorse Maurice Kamto's new coalition. According to the CPSJ, Kamto presents at least a federalist solution to initiate the resolution of the Anglophone Crisis, whereas Biya only advocates violence and death.{loadmoduleid 378}
Reverend Pastor Bertin Kissop has also declared his candidacy for the 2025 presidential election, scheduled in two years. "We are honored to officially proclaim today the candidacy of Reverend Pastor Bertin Kisob, a political prisoner of the Anglophone Crisis unjustly held for six years at the Main Prison of Yaoundé and National President of our political entity, the Cameroon Party for Social Justice, CPSJ – a legitimate political party," reads his candidacy statement. Resolving the Anglophone crisis
Bertin Kisop aims to run for the presidential election to bring an end to the conflicts in the Anglophone regions. According to his political party, Paul Biya "refuses to address the Anglophone political crisis and has chosen to needlessly shed the blood of our people and army in a conflict that can be resolved through a simple, direct, and inclusive dialogue with the true representatives of the Anglophone people in prison and in the Diaspora. Therefore, we have officially decided to present the candidacy of our National President, Reverend Pastor Bertin Kisob, unjustly imprisoned for six years due to this so-called Anglophone crisis," he continues.{loadmoduleid 377}
