Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

Two taxis were set ablaze on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Che Street in Bamenda, according to reports from Star TV. The incident occurred following a dramatic confrontation involving unknown individuals.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers, armed and riding on a motorcycle from the nearby food market, intercepted one of the taxis at Brasserie Junction. The attackers ordered the driver and a passenger to exit the vehicle before setting it on fire. Gunshots were reportedly fired into the air during the attack.

The attackers seemed to deliberate over whether they should burn the taxi or not but eventually agreed that it was the intended target. There is speculation that the taxi may belong to a mobility-impaired individual, whose previous vehicle was also set on fire on Che Street months ago, but Star TV has been unable to confirm this link.

Before the vehicles were set on fire, gunshots were heard near the Hospital Roundabout area, further raising concerns about the safety of the region. The attack marks another troubling development in the ongoing violence in the area. The authorities have yet to comment on the incident.
