AFCON 2025: The Harambee Stars of Kenya Set to Arrive in Bastos-Yaounde!
The Kenyan Football Federation has officially announced the arrival of its national football team in Yaoundé on Thursday, October 10, 2024, ahead of their crucial clash against Cameroon in the third round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, to be held in Morocco.

The Kenyan delegation will be staying at a hotel located in the Bastos district of Yaoundé. Under the leadership of head coach Engin Firat, the team is set to hold a single training session at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium to familiarize themselves with the playing conditions. This stadium will host their much-anticipated encounter with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Friday at 5 PM.
Kenya’s squad features five domestic players along with international professionals, including team captain Michael Olunga, who plays for Al-Duhail in Qatar. Strikers John Avirer and Duke Abuya, who both scored in their September 2-1 victory over Namibia, are present in the squad, though veteran midfielder Kenneth Muguna will be absent for this fixture.
Kenya currently tops Group J with 4 points, sitting level with Cameroon. Zimbabwe trails behind with 2 points, while Namibia is yet to earn a point. The return match between Kenya and Cameroon is scheduled for October 14 in Kampala, Uganda, and will be played behind closed doors, according to the Kenyan Football Federation.
