With just a week until the 5th-round match between Namibia and Cameroon, many expected that Cameroon's players, most of whom are professionals based in Europe, would head directly to Johannesburg, where the game will be held.
However, Cameroon’s head coach, Marc Brys, has announced that the Indomitable Lions will first assemble in Yaoundé this coming weekend.
Although FECAFOOT has yet to release the official squad list, the players have already received their call-ups. Meanwhile, Namibia’s head coach, Collin Benjamin, has published a list of 28 players for their training camp in South Africa.
The match between the Brave Warriors and the Indomitable Lions is scheduled for Wednesday, November 13, in the early afternoon. A Moroccan officiating team, led by referee Jalal Jayed, will oversee the game. Following this encounter, captain Vincent Aboubakar and his teammates will return to Yaoundé to face Zimbabwe on November 19. This final qualifier will take place at 2 PM at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium under the supervision of a Tanzanian refereeing team led by Ahmed Ally Arajiga.
In Group J, Cameroon has already secured a spot in the final tournament, set to take place in Morocco next year, while Namibia is eliminated from contention. The remaining qualification spot is being contested between Zimbabwe, with 8 points, and Kenya, with 4 points, with Zimbabwe holding the advantage.
