Indomitable Lions Continue Pre-Match Tradition Ahead of Crucial Kenya Clash
On the day of the crucial Cameroon vs. Kenya match, the Indomitable Lions have planned their usual pre-game walk around their base at the Hilton Hotel in Yaoundé. This morning stroll is a long-standing tradition for the team, providing a calm, pre-match routine to help players relax and clear their minds.

Joseph Monthé, a football expert, explained the purpose behind this practice to Équinoxe Radio:
"When players join the national team, they are confined to a strict schedule set by the technical staff. Outings are limited, almost like being in a barracks. The morning walk, scheduled either the day before or on match day, allows players to stretch their legs, breathe fresh air, and connect with nature. It’s excellent for oxygenation, which has a calming effect on the psyche, especially for athletes under constant pressure."
As for today's match schedule, the Lions are set to leave the hotel at 3 p.m. to arrive at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium two hours ahead of kickoff.
At Thursday’s pre-match press conference, head coach Marc Brys was joined by Jackson Tchatchoua, who replaced Martin Hongla. According to sources, Hongla withdrew for personal reasons. In an interview this morning, Brys confirmed to Équinoxe Radio:
"Martin Hongla didn’t feel at his best, so we made the substitution. Nothing serious."
Despite this change, the atmosphere in the Lions' camp remains positive, and the team is focused on maintaining their dominance over Kenya, which has never defeated Cameroon.
Following today’s match, the team will board a special flight to Uganda on Saturday, according to a source from Camairco, Cameroon’s national airline. The Lions will face the Harambee Stars again in Kampala on Monday, as they begin the second leg of the CAN 2025 qualifiers.
