Russia 2018: Nigeria follow path of African losing nations

The super Eagles of Nigeria have had a very catastrophic game against Croatia who beat them 2-0. They join Egypt and Morocco, all who so far have not been able to score a single goal, let alone win a match.

Nigeria was considered at the beginning of the competition as one of the African countries in the Russian world cup, one could rely on, as majority of fans contacted, indicated.

All of the confidence was turned into disappointment when Nigeria found themselves preventing the Croatian team from increasing the number of goals instead of trying to respond and even see how they could at least end with a draw.

All of the key players in the West African country, didn’t have the performances that were expected of them. There were the likes of Obi Mikel, Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi, all whose presence wasn’t felt.

The Croatian goal scorers were Mario Mandzukic and Modric, whose goal was a penalty.

Other matches were equally played on 16 June 2018: Argentina played against Iceland (1-1) for the first group D match of the tournament. Group C encounters included, France 2-1 Australia and Peru 0-1 Denmark.

For the moment, France leads Group C with 3 points, followed by Denmark 3 points, Australia 0 point and Peru 0 point.

As for Group D, Croatia are 1st with 3 points, while Argentina are on the 2nd spot with 1 point, followed by Iceland with 1 point and then finally Nigeria who have 0 point.
