Barcelona didn't have their best day against Valencia. On Monday there were long faces at the training ground until the visit of a former legend, Samuel Eto'o.
The Cameroon star helped bring smiles back to the faces of Lionel Messi and Co, with his eternal optimism. It is an extra does of good morale ahead of the tests away at Depor and at home to Sporting Gijon.
Eto'o, an authentic football globetrotter, is currently playing in Turkey for Antalyaspor, where he is player and coach and has 17 goals in 27 games in the league and cup this season.
Luis Enrique had not gathered the squad to discuss the situation in depth and there were no big speeches by any members of staff, so Eto'o provided a breath of fresh air for the upset dressing room.
"You'll win the league and I will come to your celebration!" said Eto'o to some of the players who used to be his team-mates, when he played for the club between 2004 and 2009. Eto'o then posted a picture on his Facebook page with Messi, Neymar and Andres Iniesta.

According to some statistics, 15,000 young football players leave Africa every year for European clubs, with many ending up in Maghreb countries. This illegal influx by minors inevitably results in abuses as young players do not have social protection or any well-defined work contracts.
In a bid to curb the situation, the National Civic Service Agency for Participation in Development, NCSAPD, on April 15, 2015, in Yaounde, signed partnership deals with ‘Foot Solidaire’ and its patron, ‘France Volontaires.’ NCSAPD General Manager, Taossi, decried the abuses common in the signing of youth footballers’ contracts, saying the quest for jobs has led many young players to embark on illegal immigration.
He explained that a number of football academies in the country will be selected and given training in civic education and sensitised against illegal immigration. Similarly, young people who have failed in their football dreams will be redirected to government economic programmes for possible absorption. “You can overlook everything, except youth problems,” Taossi warned. He said his expectations were to see youth football talents developed on-the-spot in Cameroon until they mature before going international.
Cheik Diallo, the Country Representative of ‘France Volontaires’, restated NCSAPD’s ability to carry out the training, adding that it was all about working out action plans to safeguard the future of young footballers. Jean-Claude Mbvoumin, a former national football team age group player and founder of ‘Foot Solidaire,’ spoke of his association’s international experience in protecting unsuspecting young African football players.
In 2014, Cameroonian soccer player Albert Ebosse was beaten to death in a locker room after match in Algeria(A Maghreb Country). Algeria’s official account of Albert Ebosse’s death had come into question after an independent Cameroonian pathologist released findings later that year that disputed the government’s claim that the 24-year-old soccer player had died after being hit with a projectile.
Mr Taossi warned that ‘Foot Solidaire’s role was not to serve as football transfer agent, but to help train youth to respect themselves, others and be patriotic. “Football is already a big industry in Cameroon. We are fighting human trafficking by offering young footballers opportunities to remain in the country until they mature before going international,” Mbvoumin pointed out.

Samuel Eto'o scored a scandalous goal with his hand on Saturday as his side MP Antalyaspor beat Galatasaray 4-2.
The Cameroonian striker opened the scoring in controversial circumstances in the 15th minute, as a cross from Jean Makoun found him at the back post.
Yet, with the ball slightly too far away from him to head it, Eto'o instead reached out his left arm to stop the ball - Maradona-style, before heading it into the empty net, in one fluid movement.
The action was subtle enough for neither the referee or his assistants to notice, and the ex-Barcelona forward's goal stood despite the incessant protests from the Galatasaray players.
This was by no means Eto'o's only significant action in the match, as he went on to score again, this time completely legally, and provide an assist for teammate Emrah Bassan, in an exciting encounter.
The victory leaves Antalyaspor in 11th place in the Super Lig, while Galatasaray lie five points above them in 8th.
Eto'o, meanwhile, moves on to 19 league goals for the season, trailing Mario Gomez by three, in the race to become the league's top goalscorer.
