Cameroon's Prime Minister, Philemon Yang yesterday May 3, 2016 visited Yaounde-based projects to assess the level of execution.The late morning sun in the nation’s capital city yesterday May 3, 2016, welcomed the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang to the Yaounde Military Stadium where sounds of heavy duty machinery filled the air at the first stop-over of his inspection visit to construction sites. Welcomed by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Bidoung Mkpatt at the construction site of the Military Stadium in the Ngoa-Ekelle neighbourhood, the Prime Minister was briefed on the different four lots of the stadium by the project engineer, Labir Trabelsi. The global execution rate of the project that has four components carried out by four separate enterprises, stood at 29 per cent.
The 2, 000 capacity sports facility comprises of a playground (natural turf), dressing rooms, access roads, parking space, lighting, water and telecommunication. At the Annex 1 and 2 stadiums in the Omnisports neighbourhood, an overview of the project executed by five enterprises was presented to the Prime Minister. Philemon Yang was concerned with water installations which Trabelsi said pipes have been connected to ensure the supply of water.
The last stopover was at the Yaounde Omnisports stadium where Gerard Aimé Djokou, Assistant Project manager, explained to the Prime Minister, who is also the chairman of the National Local Organising Committee for the upcoming 2016 Female African Cup of Nations, the evolution of works which stand at 40 per cent globally. The engineers are upbeat that works will be completed by end of September. The project for the renovation of the 40,000 capacity Yaounde Omnisports stadium is divided into four lots which Djokou said was advancing in all the sections though minor hitches notably in relation to imported materials. At each site, project engineers assured that all works will be completed well before the start of the competition in November 2016.
It should be recalled that during the last cabinet meeting on Thursday April 28, the Prime Minister exhorted those concerned to speed upthe pace of work. The Prime Minister was accompanied by some cabinet ministers including the Minister of State for Tourism and Leisure, Bello Bouba Maïgari, the Minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, the Minister of Urban Development and Housing, Jean Claude Mbwentchou and the Minister of Public Health, Andre Mama Fouda.

Cameroon Sports and Physical Education Minister, Bidoung Mkpatt has reiterated that government is ready to provide solutions to eventual misgivings and remarks the African Football Confederation, CAF Expert may pronounce in the validation of the 20,000 capacity stadium in Bafoussam in the western region of Cameroon.
CAF Expert, Malian Souleymane Magassouba was in Cameroon to inspect the stadium for certification over the week-end and sat through its inauguration.
“Whatever the eventual remarks and reservations pronounced, be assured that government would provide efficient and satisfactory solutions in real time for the validation of the stadium in line with engagements taken to honourably host the 2016 African Women Championship and the 2019 African Nations Cup”, the Sports Minister said.
The stadium was inaugurated with two exhibition games, Cameroon U-17 women’s national team against a local selection and U-20 national team that featured former Cameroon international Geremi Sorel Ngitap in the second half.
“I wish during my days we had this type of stadium, I am so overwhelmed I had to lace my boots for the game and for the fact that the stadium is constructed in my village”, Njitap said.
Cameroon’s Infrastructural development programme is underway with the construction of other modern stadium of international standards.

With his 20th goal of the season in Antalyaspors's match yesterday against Konyaspor ( 1 : 0 ) Samuel Eto'o earned a bonus of 250,000 euros . The veteran Cameroonian International striker had in his contract a clause that guaranteed him the above sum should he score 20 goals in each season.
Samuel Eto'o flourishes in Turkey . He is in high demand at his club not only as a scorer,but also as a real all-rounder . At the start of the season,there were alot of criticism as to Antalyaspors decision to go for Eto'o. Some critics called him a football pensioner who is greedy behind money and wants to cash in again and again ,a washed-up star who does not know when to stop : Reactions to Samuel Eto'o's move to Antalyaspor last summer were with mixed feelings ! The striker had played just a miserable season at Sampdoria .
Several months after joining Antalyaspors, the critics were silenced at his magnificient performance . Eto'o was a stroke of luck for Antalyaspor .Within a short time he became the face of the club and after the dismissal of the clubs former coach in December he led the team as a transitional coach-player alongside youth coach Mehmet Ugurlu .Antalyaspors's president Hasan Özkan says : " He played during this phase even better , he devoted himself entirely to the club . . " .

The National Institute of Youth and Sports were crown overall champions with 19 medals in gold won during the ten day tournament.
The University Institute of the Gulf of Guinea came second with 12 medals in gold while the University of Yaounde I occupied the third position with 10 precious metals in gold.
The Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fames Ndongo while closing the University Games saluted the sportsmanship the reigned throughout the the competition.
He also congratulated the athletes for breaking old records and creating new ones, proof of the high quality of the games.
The major announcement at the closing ceremony was that Cameron's youngest state University, the University of Bemenda will host the next edition of the University Games.
The hosting Rector of the University of Yaounde II, Soa then handed over the Games flag to the Vice Chancellor of the University of Bemenda who now has the task of beginning, infrastructural and logistics preparations for the games.
The North West Region will be hosting the University Games for the first time. It's therefore going to be a challenge not only for the University of Bemenda that will be hosting the 20th edition but the entire region that will be hosting thousands of visitors during the jamboree.

Bafoussam Omnisports Stadium, is the name given to the ultra modern structure in 'kouekong' in the outskirt of the town of Bafoussam.
The naming of the 20.000 seater-capacity stadium was done Friday afternoon, 29th April 2016 during an official inauguration ceremony in Kouakong in the West Region.
The inuaguration ceremony was presided by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Bidoung Mkpatt. The colourful and rich in sound ceremony, was attended by experts from the confederation of African Football, CAF who came to attest that the stadium respects international standards. A host of national and international dignatories, elite and population of the West region also turned out for the historic ceremony outside Bafoussam.
The inauguration of the Bafoussam Omnisport Stadium comes shortly after that of Limbe. The wave of inauguration of stadia which is still continue is in line with efforts to equip Cameroon with ultra modern sports infrastructure ahead of the 2016 Women's African Cup of Nations that is due to kick off in November. It's also part of infrastructural development intended to enhance local football and prepare for other international sporting events.
