After Bamenda Flop, Osih Shines in Bafoussam
[BAFOUSSAM, Sept 30 – SDF presidential candidate Joshua Osih electrified crowds in Bafoussam last night, marking a strong rebound from the low turnout his campaign witnessed in Bamenda earlier this week.

The Bafoussam rally, part of Osih’s fourth day of campaigning, drew thousands who braved the late-night hours to welcome the opposition leader. “He didn’t run away, he didn’t pose a rabbit. The standard bearer of the SDF was there with the people of Bafoussam,” one supporter remarked, noting the energy that carried the event.
On his official social media page, Osih wrote: “Campagne Présidentielle, Jour 4: Meeting à Bafoussam, un moment fort avec la population. Presidential Campaign, Day 4: Our rally in Bafoussam, a warm and powerful moment with the people.”
The SDF candidate spent Tuesday crisscrossing the West Region, making stops in Bâtie, Baham, Bamendjou, Ballesseng, Penka-Michel, Dschang, Batcham, Mbounda, and finally Bafoussam. His message was clear: seize the October 12 polls as a chance for change.
Osih pledged to deliver:
-
Accessible land titles for ordinary citizens
-
Improved road infrastructure across rural and urban areas
-
Affordable, quality education for youth
-
Stronger healthcare systems
-
Modern digital and transport connections for the West Region
The size of the Bafoussam crowd has reinvigorated the SDF campaign after critics pointed to Bamenda’s thin turnout as evidence of decline. For many in the West, the rally signaled that the party once led by Ni John Fru Ndi still retains the ability to mobilize large audiences and inspire hope.
With less than two weeks before the presidential election, Osih’s growing momentum in key regions could determine whether the SDF reclaims its former political weight or remains a shadow of its 1990s heyday.
