60 year old woman gives birth to twins in Yaounde
After a successful surgery, a sixty-year old woman has given birth to two male babies at the Gynaecological Endoscopic and Human Reproductive Teaching Hospital in Yaounde.
The spectacular event took place on Thursday 27.04.2017. The lady who had attained menopause got her babies through in vitro fertilization. She is one of several women of advanced age who have conceived through in vitro fertilization in Cameroon. Two other women, aged 55 and 52, were celebrated as expectant mothers during the inauguration ceremony of the hospital in May 2016 by Chantal Biya, founder.
The happy mother is reportedly doing well with her little babies.
The Gynaecological Endoscopic and Human Reproductive Teaching Hospital in Yaounde is considered the best in the whole of Central Africa.
It is estimated that 30 per cent of couples in couple have infertility complications. Even though this hospital has come to wipe away the tears of childless couples, there however serious concerns over the cost its services. It is believed that a couple aspiring for in vitro fertilization must have at least CFA 2 million.
