Alleged Poisoning Attempt Unravels in Bonapriso, Douala
A chilling plot to poison her husband, Maximilien K., reportedly unfolded in the serene neighborhood of Bonapriso, Douala, sending shockwaves through the community and sparking a flurry of legal proceedings.
The incident, which transpired on Saturday, March 23, involved Odile K., a 34-year-old service provider, allegedly orchestrating a scheme to eliminate her spouse, Maximilien, a 52-year-old design engineer.
The narrative, as disclosed by the couple's house employee, Carine Merline E., paints a disturbing picture of marital discord and clandestine intentions. Carine, a 32-year-old maid employed by the couple, bravely divulged the details of the purported plot to the New Bell gendarmerie brigade, shedding light on a turbulent relationship marred by verbal altercations and mutual threats of violence.
According to Carine's testimony, the fateful Saturday commenced with Odile entrusting her with a sachet of powder, instructing her to surreptitiously incorporate it into Maximilien's meal of couscous with crab okra sauce. Despite initial misgivings and inquiries about the nature of the substance, Carine acquiesced to her employer's demands after being offered a sum of 250,000 F for her compliance.
However, fate intervened when Maximilien, contrary to Odile's intentions, survived the ordeal unscathed and even expressed satisfaction with the meal. The following day, Carine, grappling with the moral implications of her involvement, sought counsel from a priest and ultimately decided to return the money and powder to her employer.
The confrontation that ensued between Carine and Odile upon her return to Bonapriso underscored the gravity of the situation, prompting Carine to disclose the truth to Maximilien. In a dramatic turn of events, Maximilien confronted his wife, leading to her detention by authorities.
During her interrogation, Odile purportedly claimed that the substance in the sachet was a charm, yet her refusal to taste it raised suspicions and contributed to her arrest. Maximilien's decision to allow Carine to retain the money, coupled with her family's counsel to sever ties with her employment, reflects the gravity of the situation and the profound impact it has had on all involved.
As the investigation unfolds and legal proceedings progress, the community of Bonapriso grapples with the aftermath of a chilling episode that has shattered the illusion of domestic tranquility and exposed the dark underbelly of marital discord.
