Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

Prime Minister Yang Philemon has finally yielded to pressure and anger expressed by Yaounde city dwellers blaming the President Biya regime for non rehabilitation of the main lake in the nation's capital. The Head of Government recently appointed a senior official of the Yaounde Urban Council to oversee what the PM's office described as "a special partnership contract scheme" Cameroon Concord has learnt.

However, diplomatic sources at the Star building told our intelligence agents that the Prime Minister's decision was based on a culmination of incidents, including anti-social behaviour and advice from the Delegate General of National Security that the Yaounde lake has virtually become a destination for citizens to end their lives by throwing themselves into the lake. It is vital to observe that before President Biya took over office as Head of State, the Yaounde lake was a sprawling nautical sporting activity with a snack bar at one end providing the whole environment with the look of a spectacular scientific complex.

Thirty-one years after noted a retired Yaounde based civil servant who accepted to chat with Cameroon Concord, the lake is indeed a shadow of itself. Said Mrs Owona Yvette "Its a disgrace! This is a well-known amenity that has been enjoyed by generations of Yaoundean for many years and for the last 31 years of this Biya government, we're being penalized by CPDM neglect of tourism"
Mrs Owona and many other Yaounde city dwellers have welcome Prime Minister Yang's decision but are still very skeptical since every aspect of the Biya regime is masterminded and teleguided by the Francophone-Beti-Ewondo mafia. There are many more lakes in Cameroon requiring attention. The nation's capital alone has some at Efoulan, Obili and Nkolbisson.
