ARE CAMEROONIANS READY FOR NATION BUILDING
It is easy to understand why very few Cameroonians are succeeding in the Western world particularly in countries like Germany, France, Italy and Spain. Many of our people have turned to blame their failures on circumstances. Success should not be tied to our environment and circumstances surrounding us.
Colin Tuner a prolific writer noted, ”Those who succeed in life are those who look for circumstances they want. If they don’t find them, they create them A life without a goal is not worth living. Most of us in the Diaspora have contented ourselves in living the present as events unfold, following what the system offers. We should start setting goals to improve ourselves and coming out of the vicious circles put in place by the systems in which we find ourselves.
A goal is simply a dream with a deadline. Every Cameroonian in the Diaspora is capable of achieving his or her goals. We just have to believe in our potentials. It is universally accepted that `that which is created, is created for a purpose`. If you can look up, you can get up. How prepared are we for the task of selfimprovement? Have we tried to discover that talent that we have? In order to gain anything, some sacrifices have to be made. Going in for a better life, be it a political or economic goal, to attain it we must develop intellectually.” In Germany, for instance, two years professional training (Ausbildung) can help upgrade our lives. Firstly, it does not only line our pockets with more money but it also helps us to avoid being assigned to the most menial duties in society.
Most Cameroonians in Germany, France, Spain has qualifications to take up university studies. But they are reluctant to do so. With globalisation it is worth noting that those without some sort of education will have no place. We should think of the possibilities of taking up jobs home and abroad and also profit from brain gain, whereby we train in the first world and work in our home country. The high level of investments going on in Cameroon cannot be overlooked. We will definitely require qualified people. We as a people should learn to invest in what cannot be taken away from us-Education. With Education, we will be role models to our children. With Education, we will be very ready for the challenging future. Cameroon concord will publish information on how to get enrolled for professional training, as well as for university education.
