Calm returns to the streets of Bamenda after negotiations were reached with striking traders
After a Crisis meeting with the North West Governor and his Etat Major, the authorities in Bamenda and representatives of traders union resorted at the advise of the SDO for Mezam and the Secretary General to the City Council Mr Waindim Jude, to maintain the old rates (amounts)paid by the traders for sheds at the Bamenda main market.
The SG to the City Council acting on the instructions of the Government Delegate, called on the Traders to go back to thier different markets and commence payments.
He when further to advise that, those of the Hospital Roundabout market should come to the City Council on Wednesday 13th July for a final deliberation to their worry. The SG made it public that pending a proper re-examination of deliberation to implement Law No. 2009/019 of 15 Dec 2009 bearing on Local Fiscal System, which Deliberation has not even yet been approved by supervisory authority, the old rates will remain in force."
