Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

At least two of Biya's new BIR recruits have disappeared into thin air.
The two soldiers are part of the 433 men currently in training in the South West Region.
Three others have fallen sick, according to state-run broadcaster CRTV.
The training programme set for the Rapid Intervention Battalion is not candy for children. It's hard. Some trainees even die in the course of the programme.
Yet the real issue is not the toughness of the training.
Most people defy the necessary requirements for the job. It's not uncommon to see men above 30 running with bags of sand in the name of training.
Others join the job because an uncle or a friend has a say in how the meat is shared.
Biya has embarked on special reforms in his country, as he battles with the Boko Haram insurgency and the unrest in West Cameroon.
Five thousand soldiers and 2500 gendarme officers are to be recruited soon, says the minister of defence.
