Cameroon: CEDIPRESS takes over from Messapress in Newspaper distribution
Newspaper distribution will no longer be in the hands of Messapress as from 7 August 2017. A new enterprise, Cooperative for the Publishing and Distribution of the Cameroon Press (CEDIPRESS) will take over.
“From Next Saturday, we will start receiving the newspapers; our teams are ready to host the production of all local publishers. We look forward to the commitment of publishers to get involved in this cooperative and also those who have not yet joined but who entrust us with the distribution of their newspapers” the promoter of the enterprise said.
Their work will be based on four aspects; firstly, the logistical aspect which includes the collection, processing and delivery to agents, secondly, the commercial part, which will concentrate on the advice and assistance in the distribution of the newspapers, thirdly, the financial domain for the collection of revenue from the custodians of sales and then the fourth aspect which will be based on management of information related to the collection of sales data and sales information.
This transition comes as a result of the decision of Messapress to increase the amount of money they tax for distribution from 40% to 50%, which many publishers were not in support of.
Nevertheless, they will keep on distributing French publications from outside the country.
