Cameroon:Man 'kills' his father in desperate attempt to go abroad
A man of about 42 is currently in detention over the alleged murder of his father in Douala. Achille Ndongo, as he is identified, reportedly sold the unique shop of the family at a market in New-Deido.
His father got frustrated , fell sick and was taken to hospital where he died of cerebral-vascular injury on June 20, Cameroon-Info.Net reports, citing Le jour.
The man had reportedly told his father he wanted to travel to Canada. His dad had welcomed the idea yet cautioned that they needed to save enough money with time.
The desperate man is believed to have suggested selling the shop but the father would not digest it, as the shop was the breadbasket of the family.
However, Achille appeared to have stood his ground and finally sold the shop.
The new owner had appeared before Achille's father , making the senior man frustrated beyond repair.
When Achille learned of the drama , he went to accuse his mum of killing his father. The Logbesso Gendarmerie intervened and arrested Achille, whom one of the officers believed "is mentally sick".
The notion of going abroad is a disease in Cameroon and Africa as a continent. People gather money for decades to just to make their to the other side of the defence where the grass is believed to be greener.
