Cameroon: North West Governor Presents Incomplete Balance Sheet Of Bamenda Upheavals
The Governor of the North West region, Adolphe Lele L'afrique has presented a report of Thursday's gruesome confrontation in Bamenda between angry protesters and security officers.
The report states that 2 people died, 58 people were arrested, 8 police and gendarme officers wounded, 2 CPDM supporters injured, 9 police vehicles destroyed and 2public structures attacked (the 3rd police district burnt in Meta and a section of the Bamenda Regional hospital destroyed)
The Governor however failed to clarify where are the arrested youths detained of taken to. The report also missed out on the number of injured protesting youths.
Lele L'afrique further contradicted himself when he told state radio, the CRTV that calm is returning to the city. Whereas more troops are being feried from other regions, putting inhabitants in a state of increasing panic.
We could not independently confirm whether some of the arrested youths have been taken to torture camps in Yaounde
