Cameroon: Poor turnout on first day of GCE
The turnout of students was very low in several centers of the English speaking regions of the country today. Reports say the exams started today with not up to half the students who registered to write.
Sources say examinations started more than one hour above the kickoff time due to the late coming of the candidates. Our lady of mount camel that was listed to be one of the hosting centers was transferred at the last minute to government bilingual high school Muea. Causing a lot of confusion and delay as students who came for practicals were forced go to government school Muea.
Reports say several parents expressed worries over the safety of their children towards the writing of the GCE.
“I am so worried over my child’s safety especially when the children going in for the exams are not assured of their safety. My son is writing the A/L but I cannot allow him to go to school when I know he can be attacked.
According to reports very few school authorities were willing to present the statistics of the examination.
