Captain Guerandi Affair: Cameroon Government may face justice at the International Criminal Court
A movement advocating the total liberation of Cameroon from the CPDM colonial yoke will file a complaint against the regime in Yaoundé this coming February as part of the affair concerning the sudden disappearance of Captain Guerandi Mbara. In a strongly worded statement, the pro Captain Guerandi group revealed that it will seek the involvement of the International Criminal Court to shed light on the disappearance of the soldier who staged the April 6th 1984 coup against President Biya.
The Movement for the Alternation of Cameroon (MAC) noted that the implementation of this initiative is to push the international criminal court to uphold its ideals contained in its charter. The body has also hired a legal team to channel the unsolved death of Dr. Guerandi Mbara Goulongo exiled in Burkina Faso since 1984 to the Economic Community of Central Africa (CEMAC), the African Union and UN Specialized organs.
The movement that was officially born on January 4, 2014, says it wants to continue unabated and without weakness, all legal actions necessary for the Cameroon government to make public its version of the facts surrounding the disappearance of Captain Guerandi. Guerandi Mbara was a Cameroonian soldier who fled to Burkina Faso after the April 1984 coup. He was suspected of trying to overthrow the Biya regime. In its 14 and 20 September 2014 weekly edition, Jeune Afrique made the revelation about the disappearance of Guerandi Mbara. Since then, the soldier who had defended a PhD in political science has never been seen or heard in public.
