Chief Anja Simon of Bantakpa village, Akwaya is no more
The politician and traditional ruler died in Turkey on November 7, 2023 where he was seeking medical attention.
The death has been announced of Senator Chief Anja Simon. The septuagenarian died in Turkey on November 7, 2023 where he travelled for medical attention. He was serving his third mandate at the Senate and was re-appointed for the third time by the President of the Republic on March 31, 2023. The politician was also traditional ruler of Bantakpa village, Akwaya Subdivision, Manyu Division of the South West Region.
The deceased who got into the Senate in 2013 was the First Secretary of the National Defence and Security Committee of the law-making House. The late legislator retired as a lecturer at the Higher Teachers Training College, ENS, Bambili, North West Region. Before his appointed into the Senate, he was lecturer at the Bamenda University of Science and Technology. With an encouraging educational career and being an educator himself, the Senator is said to diligently read through bills brought before Senators for scrutiny and listened attentively to the explanations of members of government when questioned on a subject.
The member of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) party was amongst those that fought for the disenclavement of the Akwaya Subdivision.
Getting the news of his death, Senator Charles Mbella Moki said he is very devastated.
