Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

Dozens of people including Chinese Nationals have been arrested in Betari Oya in the East region by Cameroonian Soldiers for violating environmental rules and illegal immigration.

The matter has been tabled at the Court of First Instance while one of the Chinese Nationals raised a point on irregularities in the court procedure. Those arrested are being held at the Gendarmerie Brigade at Betari Oya.

The Chinese miners are out to recover the money spent to get mining certificates and so they do not want to incur an additional cost in discharging waste from the mining process. By so doing, they tend to pollute the environment which is a violation of environmental rules they themselves signed not to go against on their contract form.
