Breaking

The wreckage of two vehicles crushed by a fallen container at the Don Bosco area of the Mimboman neighborhood has been removed by firefighters.

As of now, security forces confirm three fatalities and nine serious injuries. The injured victims have been rushed to the Central Hospital of Yaoundé and the Fire Brigade Hospital located within the same district. Authorities have restored traffic, but families are still struggling to identify the bodies of the deceased.

The accident occurred early Thursday morning around 7:00 AM when a container detached from a truck and fell onto a taxi and a private vehicle at the Don Bosco junction. Initial reports suggest that the heavy truck experienced brake failure, resulting in the tragedy. Emergency responders, including firefighters and law enforcement, are continuing their efforts to extract passengers from the mangled vehicles.

The driver of the truck fled the scene immediately after the incident, prompting an investigation by the police, who are working to locate him.
