Douala 5 municipality, locals say CAMWATER has failed to supply water but faithful in issuing bills
Some areas of the Douala 5 municipality have been hit hard by water scarcity over the past one month.
According to a local inhabitant they lastly tasted the precious liquid from CAMWATER taps as long as one month ago.
Some victims say with humour that they are humbled by the commitment and timeliness of the water company in distributing bills even though there is no water.
"I have not been able to carry water from my tap for more than 1 month now but all I receive are bills. I don’t know whether the distributors of those bills are aware that there is no water" asks a grumbling local.
The affected locality has resorted to using well water and some complain that it has caused their children to develop serious diarrhea.
"My child has developed stomach problems ever since we started using well water and I suspect that it is this well water that has caused it" says an angry inhabitant.
Reports say despite all the complaints directed to CAMWATER office, no clear response have been gotten from the company as to when the precious liquid will once more be made available.
