Douala: The killing of two ‘prostitutes’ by a BIR element goes viral
The death of two ‘sex workers’ in Douala has shaken the entire community in recent days. The two ladies were reportedly murdered by a member of the Rapid Intervention Brigade (BIR) at a junction called Carrefour Nelson Mandela.
This has provoked serious reactions from the powers that be.
The deputy Sub-divisional Officer (who doubles as the interim Sub-divisional Officer) of Douala 3eme has launched an investigation into the murder of the two women.
One of the ladies is reportedly the sister of Monique Koumateke(the lady who was operated upon after death to remove dead twins from the stomach by a sister who knew nothing about surgery. That was after she had been declared dead at Laquintinie in Douala in 2016.)
Mr Dimbélé Boui Eugène has also ordered the closure of several drinking spots in the locality as part of measures r to oblige them to obey the rules governing their activity.
During a tour of the neighbourhood on the night of April 28, 2017, Mr Boui also had some sixty or so persons arrested and detained at the Nylon and Bakoko brigades.
Speaking at a press conference, he underscored the need for more fraternity, especially at a crucial moment like this: “We are about to celebrate national unity, and we are praying that the celebrations are done in peace and serenity. Besides, the late closing time of these structures increases noise pollution and nocturnal uproars which perturb our children from revising their lessons properly,” he declared.
Adding that, “ we will multiply such operations to enable our people sleep peacefully.” he ended.
