Double tragedy hits Kumba within four days

The population of Kumba in Meme Division of the South West Region of Cameroon is becoming edgy; following two tragic incidents that hit the Divisional headquarters within a four days.

There was total consternation in the metropolis on Tuesday, May 10, when 31-year-old Ebango Rexson beheaded his 61-year-old mother.

Rexson was protesting over the non-availability of beef commonly called ‘cow meat’ his plate of food.  

According to reports, the gluttonous Rexson was served food and after eating all the food, he complained that he was not satisfied and thus requested the mother to add him more food.

His 61-year-old mother, Agnes Ebango, decided to increase the food, but this time around she decided to give Rexson hid commonly called ‘canda’ instead of meat. 

After consuming the second plate of food, the epicurean Rexson forcefully went to the mother’s port and served himself without permission. He almost emptied the meat in the pot.

Bewildered by the behaviour of his son, Agnes told Rexson that his unruly behaviour was becoming a cause for concern and that it will be advisable for him to move out of the house and look for his own accommodation, where he can become a master of his own and to eat what he likes at anytime, without asking permission from anybody.

Infuriated by his mother’s comment, Rexson reportedly picked up a machete and reaped-off his mothers head. News of the incident spread in the Fiango neighbourhood like a wild inferno and within a twinkling of an eye, the Ebango’s resident was already teeming with angry youths who attempted to squeeze life out of Rexon.

The culprit was only rescued by the police from mob justice.

Before the population of Kumba could even come to terms with the incident, tragedy struck again on Saturday, May 13, this time claiming the life of a teenager.

 According to reports, the deceased had an argument with her cousin that ended up in a fight.

 Even though the fight was later separated by neighbours, when the two cousins retired, the little one is said to have used a stick and hit the elder one on the ribs. This left her gasping for breath. She was rushed to the hospital, but later died hours after.

Tongues are already wagging following the two tragic incidents as nobody knows who will be next.
