Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

The former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Essimi Menye was summoned today Tuesday, the 27th of October, 2015 to appear before judges at the Special Criminal Court. Hon. Essimi Menye who suffered a massive stroke after he was sacked from the Yang Philemon government is expected to put up a defense against corruption charges which inter alia includes the transfer of 9 billion FCFA from Amity Bank Cameroon. Former minister Essimi Menye however did not appear in court today due to his poor health but has been told he must face justice.

Unconfirmed reports have suggested that prosecutors at the Special Criminal Court recently demanded the former minister's bill of health from the medical team at the National Social Insurance Hospital in Yaounde. His dismissal from the cabinet seems to have open the doors of the Kondengui prison for him. Two cases involving Amity Bank and the defunct Cameroon Tobacco Company may have pushed Lazare Essimi Menye to intensive care at the CNPS Hospital stroke unit. His appeal for evacuation for better medical facilities abroad was never granted by former friends and pals within the ruling CPDM crime syndicate.
