Fire Destroys Parts Of Douala City Council
A fire destroyed parts of the building housing the Douala City Council on the night of Monday breaking Tuesday, burning down two of the four floors of the building.
The fire started at around 23 pm local time . Despite the intervention of firefighters who were able to isolate the flames in the early morning , the damage is significant.
These include two floors which houses the financial services, human resources and those of the Urban Redevelopment Authority .
Early today, the Governor of the Littoral Region , Joseph Beti Assomo , visited the scene , and confirmed to the meia that it was still to early too early to access the destruction , but the damage is enormous ." According to him, " investigations will determine the cause of the fire and the impact of the disaster ."
The Douala Urban Council is experiencing the third fire incident after that of 2007 and 2011
