Ever since, his health has deteriorated and on Sunday the 11th of October Lazare Essimi Menye was rushed from his home in Yaounde to the hospital. On one occasion revealed Cameroon Concord’s Chief Intelligence Officer in Yaounde, former Minister Lazare Essimi made appointments at his ministry without due consultation with the Prime Minister and Head of Government. And when Prime Minister Philemon Yang reminded him of the rules of engagement as a member of government, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development as he then was went on state radio and television and in a typical Francophone style of governance, made his appointments at his ministry public.

With his present cardiovascular problem as reportedly by some local media houses in Yaounde, Essimi Menye, who is suppose to head a CPDM delegation for the current renewal exercise will not be present on the political scene in the coming days. Some sources deep within the ruling CPDM crime syndicate have hinted that former Minister Essimi Menye may have orchestrated his hospitalization to evade justice at the Special Criminal Court over the Amity Bank affair in which Essimi Menye has been accused of embezzlement when he was Minister of Finance.
