Gendarmerie's Successful Operation Unveils High-Ranking Officer's Alleged Involvement in Armed Robberies
A significant breakthrough for the Cameroonian gendarmerie as the Company Commander of Baham and the Brigade Commander of Bangou collaborated this week to apprehend 5 individuals accused of numerous armed robberies in the West. Among them, a haunting revelation for authorities: Lieutenant Wang Abdel Aziz, a gendarme allegedly at the center of the criminal activities.
A Gendarme as a Gang Leader
This high-ranking officer based in Bafoussam is said to have provided weapons and ammunition to this organized gang to facilitate their criminal acts. Worse still, he is alleged to have personally participated in two armed robberies, utilizing his standard-issue service weapon.
Chilling Confessions
"According to preliminary investigations, he supplied the gang with weapons and participated in 2 robberies with his accomplices using his service weapon," reported the Western Command of the gendarmerie. A chilling testimony revealing the misconduct some rogue members of the security forces may engage in.
Lieutenant Wang Abdel Aziz has been promptly disarmed and detained pending his hearing, while his four alleged accomplices have also been apprehended. This case, closely monitored at the highest level, casts a shadow over the entire prestigious elite body that is the gendarmerie.
