Illegal Trade in Human Bones Uncovered in Cameroon: Two Central African Citizens Arrested
Two Central African citizens, Mampessa and Abdouramane, aged 20 and 24 respectively, were apprehended by the gendarmerie forces in Cameroon, in possession of a complete human skeleton.
This arrest highlights a deeply disturbing phenomenon: the illegal trade in human bones and organs, an activity as lucrative as it is old in the region.
The trade in human organs, although illegal and deeply immoral, remains a thriving reality in certain parts of Cameroon. Often practiced in the shadows, this traffic continues to proliferate despite the numerous arrests of traffickers. However, the arrests of sellers like those of Mampessa and Abdouramane are only the visible part of a complex iceberg where buyers, often more powerful and protected, systematically escape justice.
A Thriving Business
The trade in human bones, like other similar practices, has its roots in traditional and occult beliefs, where some people seek to acquire these objects in the hope of gaining wealth, power, or spiritual protection. This black market, while sordid, offers considerable profits to those who participate in it, hence its enduring appeal.
The arrest of these two young men by the gendarmerie marks a victory against this trade, but raises questions about the larger networks that operate behind the scenes. Authorities are continuing their investigations to trace the supply chain and, perhaps, reveal the identities of the buyers—who are often protected or operate with impunity.
The Still Untouchable Buyers
While the sellers are frequently captured, the buyers, for their part, seem almost elusive. These individuals, although few in number, often belong to influential circles or have protections that allow them to escape the radar of law enforcement. The traffickers captured are often mere executors, while the real sponsors remain hidden in the shadows, rarely worried.
This phenomenon pushes the population and observers to question the capacity of the authorities to really fight against this traffic or on a possible silent complicity at higher levels of the administration or society.
Conclusion
The arrest of Mampessa and Abdouramane is a brutal reminder of the occult and illegal practices that persist in certain corners of Cameroon. However, as long as the buyers of these macabre goods remain out of reach of the forces of law and order, it is likely that the trade in human bones and organs will continue to flourish in the shadows. The authorities must intensify their efforts to dismantle these networks and bring to justice all the actors involved, without distinction.
