Agbor Balla: "It is unacceptable that Cameroonians kill themselves"

Agbor Balla was present at the military tribunal yesterday Thursday, where he acted as a lawyer for the first time since his release. He was there to ensure the defense of the Southern Cameroonians who had been detained in the course of the Anglophone crisis in the Northwest and Southwest Region.

"I am here this 30 November as a lawyer to defend my fellow brothers, who have been detained for over a year now. I equally came to support these youths morally who have been distanced away from their respective families. I was with them in prison and I know how deplorable the conditions of prisons in Cameroon are." Agbor Balla told Le Jour.

The newspaper didn't fail to make the ex-detainee, give his views on the present situation of the Anglophone crisis.  "I strongly condemn the atrocities that have been observed in the country for the past months now, with the deaths of civilians recorded in October and those of the forces of law and order. I continue to say that we can avoid all of that through a frank and sincere dialogue. It is unacceptable that Cameroonians kill themselves,  be they police officers,  gendarmes or civilians" Agbor Balla said.
