Anglophone crisis: Minister Gregoire Owona condemns SDF MPs

SDF MPs are forcing through talks about the Anglophone crisis in parliament.

Their protest saw the prime minister blocked from addressing the National Assembly on Wednesday.

Minister Owona, who is representing the vice prime minister in charge of relations with parliament, has accused the MPs of disrespecting the rules that govern the National Assembly.

Speaking on Wednesday in Yaoundé, he reiterated that both 'the Senate and the National Assembly are governed by rules, which the SDF has broken.'

He added that however legitimate the claims were, it didn't warrant obstructing the prime minister from speaking.

Gregoire Owona is a staunch militant of the ruling CPDM party, which has an absolute majority in parliament.

It appears parliament is divided along ethnic or regional lines.

Pundits could argue that it's not because SDF is the leading opposition party that it has championed the struggle in parliament.

There are other parties in parliament who don't seem to care very much, probably because they're not from Southern Cameroons.
