Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

Commissioner Tazisong Christopher of the 3rd District Police Station in Muea in the Fako Division of the South West region was taken hostage by unidentified men on Sunday.

According to media reports, he was kidnapped beside a bar by some men on motorcycles at about 3pm at Mile 6 Buea.

This attracted a heavy deployment of armed military personnel in the area, we have learned.

A search has been launched. Cameroon-Info.Net reports that more than 100 persons have been arrested.

While nobody has claimed responsibility for the act, some people believe the kidnappers could be Anglophone separatist fighters.

The separatists fighting for the independence of Southern Cameroons are using every means possible to achieve their goal. Open clashes with government forces do not seem enough for them.

In a recent report, International Crisis Group said Cameroon could be on the brink of a civil war. Adding that about 60 people died in May alone because of the crisis.
