Limbe New market Traders suspect A Criminal Hand Behind Recent Fire
The early morning fire that ravished over 7 stalls yesterday March 30 2017 at the Limbe New market has left traders wondering aloud whether the fire was deliberate or accidental.
Eye witness reports say that the fire which started in one of the over seven stores could be having a hiding agenda.
“We found old tyres behind the burnt shops” says an eye witness. I am sure that these were some of the materials used for lighting the fire” he adds.
Reasons as to why the said shops could be deliberately set ablaze converged towards one point according to critics.
“I think the burning of these shops is strongly connected to the on-going Anglophone struggle” says a Limbe based critic. “Limbe inhabitants have been organising ghost towns to pressurize the government to solve the Anglophone problem. Despite the massive mobilization, some individuals still go ahead to disrespect Ghost Town days and open their shops. I am very sure these are the Victims of the fire” he says.
Pundits say the recent fires in the Bamenda Food Market, Fundong Market and the latest Limbe New Market fire may have been powered by the same motivations.
