According to eyewitness accounts gathered by Cameroon Concord, the incident occurred at a local bar famed for its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and its laid-back beach atmosphere. Patrons were enjoying drinks, grilled soya, and loud music when the victim—reportedly intoxicated—approached a strikingly dressed woman and attempted to engage her in conversation.
“The man seemed infatuated,” said a bar employee who asked not to be named. “He complimented her, even joked that he could die at her feet.” What started as playful banter quickly escalated into violence. The woman, described by witnesses as visibly irritated, allegedly grabbed a glass bottle and smashed it against the man’s head.
The victim collapsed immediately. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead hours later due to severe cranial trauma.
Authorities have since arrested the suspect, who is being held at the Limbé gendarmerie. In her initial statement, the woman claimed she acted in self-defense, alleging that the man insulted her in a degrading manner.
No further details about the identities of either party have been officially released, and an investigation is currently underway.
This incident raises fresh concerns about nightlife safety and gender-based tensions in public spaces. Limbé, often seen as a haven for tourism and leisure, now finds itself grappling with the shadow of a senseless crime sparked by a moment of alcohol-fueled bravado.
