Nsimalem-Yaounde accident claims the lives of 18
A ghastly accident happened on Sunday on the Nsimalen-Yaoundé highway that claimed the lives of 18 and left many seriously injured. The incident occurred at Ekali on the highway linking the Nsimalen International airport to the capital Yaoundé. Some reports say a member of the music group Takam II was killed in the crash.
The bus which belongs to the Bucavoyages agency, called "Mboutou Abeng" from Yaoundé, crashed into a vehicle carrying logs. The driver of the truck was reported to have lost control of his vehicle. The first assessment carried out so far by police on the site stated that 18 deaths were recorded on the spot and cases of serious injuries were urgently taken to the central hospital in Yaoundé.
At the time of going to press, our Yaoundé city reporter hinted that some of the wounded died en route to hospital. This ghastly accident comes as the Ministry of Transport recently redefined the hours of circulation of logging trucks in urban areas and in the peripheral zone. No report has been submitted to the Head of Government.
